They found the pre/power combination had "perfect musical balance" and "the upper range was pure and transparent, without sounding the slightest bit mechanical".
Reviewer Nikolay Efremov continues:
“Sound tracks with a rich spectrum and complicated rhythm are very legible, timbres of individual instruments are confidently heard”
Regarding the 100p power amp, Nikolay commented:
“Dynamics are excellent, at the peak of the volume when the chair starts to vibrate, not even a hint of coloration or distortion.”
Measurements taken by Salon Audio Video of the 100p power amp revealed maximum power output (THD = 1%) of 90W into 8 Ohms and 160W into 4 Ohms. They had difficulties measuring the distortion because the level was so low:
“Usually we measure the harmonic spectrum with power output at 10% of the maximum, but in this case I had to increase it to 100 Watts – below this value distortions were so small they were lost in the noise floor.”
Thank you Nikolay, and the team at Salon Audio Video, for a fantastic review of the DP32 USB DAC preamp and 100p stereo power amp.
Thanks also to Audiomania for supplying the review samples.
